Of Bunnies and Musicals

On May 4th, I went with my mom and sister to my niece and nephew’s first birthday. For one, my cousins Georgia and Jurvia became moms last year, which was the Year of the Rabbit, and explains the bunny images around. We went there by taxi, and it was raining. What a relief, since the weather’s not at oven levels of hot.

I ate lunch there and we took pictures with our niece and nephew. We walked back to our house. At least we had our umbrellas ☔️ with us.

This afternoon, I went to the young adults meeting and recapped Ezra 10:1-17.

We are warned about knowing God’s Word but not obeying Him. It’s possible to read and listen but not let it sink into your heart.

I know, with all the pragmatism going on, the whole ‘it’s the ends which justify the means’ and ‘situational ethics’ that has been used to justify sins, we can be unbothered by sin happening around us. Say what you will about it not being in your turf, but it in another nation, the sin in question has ruined countless lives.

I went home to listen to another Zoom Bible study and ate dinner. Then I went to Marina Bay Sands to watch the Hamilton musical with my mom and sister.

Hamilton is about Alexander Hamilton, an obscure Founding Father of the United States of America who was known for involvement in the American revolution, and eventually, being a politician in the new government and being shot by Aaron Burr. Mom did not know about him until this musical, and it’s appropriate ‘who lives, who dies and tells your story’ repeats multiple times in the play.

The actors are quite skilled at their rapping and King George the Third’s actor is comically entertaining when singing “You’ll Be Back”. Hilariously, the real King George the Third did go mad eventually…

Looks like everyone in the theatre gets to hear Hamilton’s story though to be fair, there are liberties taken with American history in this musical. Overall, it was an entertaining musical that introduces first timers to the early history of the United States and catchy songs which reference certain events which happened in it, like the Boston Tea Party, the infamous Reynolds Pamphlet and such.

Anyway, we went home. Sleep tight.
